Regardless of political/religious ideology, it is imperative for us to act on the threat of rapid climate change. In many ways this is a moral issue. As the most intelligent beings on this Earth, and the only ones physically capable of the massive changes that have occurred and are occurring (at this point, the science is incontrovertible), isn't it our duty to protect it?"The consequence of that is we are basically looking now at a future climate that is beyond anything that we've considered seriously," Chris Field, a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, or IPCC, told the American Association for the Advancement of Science meeting in Chicago.
Field said "the actual trajectory of climate change is more serious" than any of the climate predictions in the IPCC's fourth assessment report called "Climate Change 2007."
We have a Democratic President and Congress. I hope work is done on this soon. It shouldn't be a partisan issue (but it probably will be), but we must get started in our country in order to spur global participation and cooperation on solving climate change because we have 0 softpower (geopolitcal leverage) on this issue right now.
